What's wrong with those people? Anyone with Vanyel, Elspeth, or Selenay (etc, so on and so forth) in their name should KNOW about Companions and Heralds.

I think Vanyel is a pretty common Eastern European name, but I can't be 100% sure. That might explain the folk running around unaware of Companions and wearing whites.

I dont like to gush over the Valdemar series if I dont know that the person is a fan. I've run into several people who use Vanyel and Elspeth for names (Elspeth because it's a hebrew name...and Vanyel because...I dunno XD ), and they have no clue who Mercedes Lackey is, or what Valdemar is all about.

Yeah I was very surprised to find a fan of Aerosmith AND Valdemar. Nice to see there are people as crazy as I am!

Sure am. The name, of course, comes from dear ol'Vanyel. I read the Herald Mage Trilogy back in '92, and still have a soft spot for the conflicted lad and his white horse.
